In Upper Key Stage 2 we have been experiencing the challenges and fun of being a parent.
Children each have their own flour baby which they have created, named and ‘decorated’.
Within no time at all, the babies now have play tents, beds, sling carriers, birth certificates, outfits, toys and bottles! This project is being taken very seriously.
It forms part of our science study on how mammals care for their young, and how humans care for babies. Having read Flour Babies by Anne Fine, the children have discussed the fact that parenting is not always easy, and the children are already commenting that their lives have already had to change. The daily diary that the children are filling in is encouraging real reflection on parenting.
