Ash - 5 & 6
Miss Pritchard – year 5 & 6
The other adults in this class are: Mrs Hayman
The curriculum for this term
World War 2
Literacy will be based on the book: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Race Against Time.
I would recommend buying a copy of the book for your child to read, however this is not essential. If you would like to, here is an Amazon link to the book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chitty-Bang-Race-Against-Time/dp/0330544209/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
The children will be writing a story where Chitty takes the Tootings to a time during WW2.
Current home-learning expectations
Over the next few weeks, we will be finishing our current fractions/percentages/decimals unit. After that, we will move onto angles and geometry.
Here is some optional maths home learning to recap fractions, percentages and decimals. The children can show me if they would like to but if you want to mark their work, the answers are at the bottom for you to mark with your child. The second link is a maths game.
Your child is expected to read for at least 30 minutes every day. They can read on their own, with an adult, with a friend or with a sibling. We will be monitoring this with a reading record. Now the children are in upper KS2, they should be expected to take charge of their reading logs. They should make sure that their log is signed and they should make sure they bring their reading log into school every day.
Each Friday, the children have a spelling test. They need to write the word called out into a sentence. It would be great if you could support your child with this at home.
Here are copies of the spelling sheets. Your child will be able to explain it to you.
Year 6 SPAG:
Year 6 will have weekly SPAG.com sessions to complete. Your child should know their log in details. If they have forgotten them, they can ask me.
