Miss Pritchard

The other adults in this class are: Mrs Hayman, our class TA.

Welcome to Ash class! We have loved getting to know the children in Ash class and can’t wait for the year ahead!

Timetable information:

P.E. is on a Wednesday. Please can your child come into school wearing their kit.

No swimming during the Autumn term.

Miss Atkin teaches Ash class on a Tuesday afternoon and on a Wednesday for 1 hr.

Mrs Lester teaches music to Ash class on a Thursday PM for 1 hr.

Stationary your child needs to bring to school:

Please can your child bring a pencil case into school every day.

Your child must have these items: a pencil, sharpener, eraser, ruler, colouring pencils and a handwriting pen (preferably blue and not a biro). It would also be useful to have these items but they are not essential: colouring pens, a whiteboard pen, a purple pen (we use them for editing) and a glue stick.

If your child is self isolating and you want them to work, they can do the following:

– Reading
-Daily maths
-Spelling on Google classrooms

-Maths – go on TTR* or BBC bitesize
-Literacy – see what is on Google classrooms or go onto BBC bitesize

The curriculum for this term:

In Ash and Oak class, we are having a go at using the chrome books on a regular basis as part of our literacy teaching. To find out what your child is doing for literacy, have a look at their Ash google classroom.

During the first half term, Ash class will be learning about place value. They will be taught about the value of numbers, rounding, comparing and ordering numbers and much more. The numbers will range from numbers with 3 decimal places up to 1 million.

Your child is expected to read for at least 30 minutes every day. They will need a reading book in school every day. They can order library books by searching the school library ( and then by completing this form: Your child will also need to complete their reading river across the week and bring it into school every day.

Please go onto your child’s google classroom to see their weekly spellings.

During the first half term, Ash class will have a focus on Geography. Initially, the children will be learning about the UK. We will be learning lots of map reading skills and location based knowledge. After that, we will be learning about Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. We will be learning about the physical geography and human geography.

We have already started our UK geography and made some UK landmark models. Thank you for supporting this by donating the junk modelling, it was amazing to see what they could make!
