Important dates for the term
The curriculum for this term
For the first half of term, we will learn about Earth and Space. We will focus on the science of space with lessons based on knowledge such as heliocentricity (the sun as the centre of the solar system), Copernicus and Galileo, the planets, lunar phases and much more! The children will get the opportunity to enrich their experience in ‘Space free time’ which they can earn after finishing their tasks. They will be visited by a scientist next week to learn all about satellites.
Current home-learning expectations
Reading – 35 minutes per day (please record in the reading logs as these will be checked weekly.

W/B 30/09 – LONDON

Order of operations
Topic – This half term, I would ask that children complete further research at home for an area of Space which interests them (Jupiter, the Apollo missions, gravity etc…). Use this research to create a fact file for our open evening presentation. These need only be one sheet of A4 paper folded into a fact file or could be made on Google Slides. Remember… show off the Y6 level punctuation, grammar and vocabulary expectations taught in class! A
