Volunteers - Helping in school
Our team of paid staff is supplemented by a lot of very valuable voluntary help during the school day. This comes from:
- parents and grandparents who have some time they can spare
- friends from the local community
- students on training placements or work experience, some of whom are former pupils
- giving children of different ages one-to-one support as they practise reading and other learning tasks
- providing practical activities
- assisting on out-of-school visits
- keeping books and other resources tidy and organised
- sharing personal skills and experiences relevant to learning topics
Our voluntary helpers are of all ages, interests and walks of life. If you have time or help to offer and would like to find out more, please contact the office for more information. We do have a requirement to ask all volunteers to complete a CRB (criminal records bureau) application form and informal discussion with the headteacher before they can start helping in school. This process of obtaining a CRB Disclosure can take a few months, so if you think you may like to help in the future it would really help if you could take the time to complete the form now. The office staff will be able to show you what to do.
