Our School

Dear parent/carer and friends, A very warm welcome to St Peter’s Church of England Primary School. This may be your first contact with us and we would like to emphasise at the outset that at St Peter’s we believe that children are all important. We are concerned with the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, moral and physical well-being of all the children in our care. This is a happy school, where we work hard to ensure that children and their families are made to feel part of the school community from the start.

St Peter’s is a wonderful school to lead and I feel very privileged. It is situated at the top of Moor Lane in the pretty seaside town of Budleigh Salterton. The core of the school was built in the early twentieth century. Since then the buildings have been adapted to accommodate a Nursery alongside the reception class and a library in between the year five and six classes. We have also refurbished an ICT suite and have built a brand new kitchen and catering facitilities. We have three Eliott buildings for years two, three and four which adjoin our large playing field. The school surrounds a large playground which accommodates a wooden stage and climbing bars. We have a large timber trail at the far end of the field.

St Peter’s S.P.S.A. and staff have spent a lot of time developing a large environmental area and copse which adjoin our very own covered swimming pool. This pool is used to great advantage by the school and community from March through to October. St Peter’s has between 250 and 270 children on roll with 10 full-time and 4 part-time teaching staff. We have 19 support staff. Our teaching groups range between 16 – 33. All members of the school, the staff, the Governors, S.P.S.A and above all, the children – will appreciate and enjoy your interest and involvement in the life of the school. Sally Roberts
